Downtown Mount Vernon is the historic heart of Skagit County. Due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the work of the Mount Vernon Downtown Association is needed now more than ever. The MVDA works to promote the health and vitality of our community through commerce, culture, and celebration, but we can't do it without your support. Please consider giving to continue our proven support programming for independent downtown businesses and help us adapt to develop new projects and programming to get our neighbors through these challenging times.
Nancy Springer Memorial Fund
It is with deep sorrow that we share news of the passing of downtown family member Nancy Springer. Small of stature, huge of heart, Nancy gave thousands of hours of service to our community over the last two decades. The self-appointed welcome wagon, guardian, gardener and goodwill ambassador for downtown, she treated the entire district as if it were all her own front yard. Always more comfortable working behind the scenes and in the wings than center stage, we are so blessed that she chose downtown Mount Vernon to love.
We extend profound sympathy and support to her beloved husband, Bruce Springer. They say that actions speak louder than words - Nancy's absence leaves a deafening silence in our broken hearts. She has been a model of servant leadership and care for community. We will miss and love her always.
The MVDA is working on a commemorative installation in our downtown to celebrate Nancy’s service.
