New to DownTown: MV Live!
If you’re in & around Mount Vernon, you may have seen the posters & social media posts for a new event called MV Live! these past few months. If you’ve been curious what all the buzz is about, look no further! Read on for an interview with Myles Doorn, creator of MV Live!, the new live-sketch comedy show right here in Downtown Mount Vernon.
Introduce yourself!
My name is Myles Doorn. Although I don’t have the cowboy boots to prove it, I was raised in Sedro-Woolley, now a resident in Mount Vernon, WA. Entertaining is my passion, and creating is my favorite way to communicate.
What is MV Live? What can ticket holders expect?
MV Live! Is a late-night, live sketch comedy show. The show also incorporates filmed sketches & live music from a house band, as well as a new music guest every show. Ticket holders can expect to be entertained. One way or another, you will find yourself having a good time- whether you're laughing at a sketch, or enjoying live music from talented musicians. The unknown of what you’re about to watch is where the excitement lies.
What makes this event new and different?
Quite literally, the show is built to be different every time you watch it. New material every show: New sketches, new music, new night. There is no other show in this area like it, where you can get many different forms of entertainment within one evening.
What inspired this project?
The idea stemmed from a Saturday Night Live-themed party my friend and I held. We came out with monologues, games & sketches. After sharing our thoughts on the night over a cup of coffee the next morning, we realized, “Hey, we can do this.” We have the talent, the network, the venue, the incredible community to support & enjoy it. I got to work and started to form a plan. MV Live! was born.
Who is involved?
Truthfully, the community. It takes a village to build something. The talent onstage involves Kenzie Sharpe, Daisy Youngquist, Phil Prud’homme, Shelli Stahl, Rob Neeleman, Scott Geer, Chayton Engelson, & Josh Sharpe.
Why host in Downtown Mount Vernon?
Downtown Mount Vernon has a certain feel. The energy, the people, the restaurants, and most importantly, the Historic Lincoln Theatre. The history surrounding that theatre is magic, and it’s something I simply want to integrate into the project. I want to offer another piece of history.
Are there any dreams or goals for this event that you want to share?
The goal is for this event to continue. To put on four shows a year for this area to enjoy and look forward to. To continue to involve artists, businesses, however that may look. The dream is underway.
What else do you want the community to know?
We appreciate the constant support and love. We love this city, and this show is for you.
The next show is on September 6th and you don’t want to miss it! Follow @MVLiveShow on social media for updates, sneak peeks, and ticket info.
