Small Business Spotlight: Revival Lounge
A look into the moody Downtown Mount Vernon cocktail bar
By: Julieta Larios
Co-owner of Revival Lounge, Karen Taylor, first opened the jazz-era-inspired cocktail bar in 2020, four weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic, after craving a spot to visit following a show at the Lincoln Theatre. Since then, she has watched the business grow and establish itself as a staple of Downtown Mount Vernon's late-night scene.
When opening Revival Lounge, Taylor drew inspiration from her brothers, who both own several bars on the East Coast. After spending so much time at their establishments, she quickly fell in love with the atmosphere that comes with a dark and moody lounge.
“People come in, they’re not on their phones, they are communicating with each other and having a nice and relaxed time,” said Taylor.
Taylor has another location in Everett, Washington, but has enjoyed working in Mount Vernon because of the downtown's community-oriented spirit. She is grateful for the amount of support from the area's friendly customers and business owners.
Over the years, Taylor has enjoyed seeing how consistent her business has been in serving the community. Currently at Revival, you can find cocktails in support of the Humane Society of Skagit Valley and the Lincoln Theatre.
“Just being a part of the community has been wonderful,” said Taylor regarding Revival's contributions to Mount Vernon.
At Revival, you can always expect an experience. Taylor puts a lot of time and care into making sure her cocktails are consistent, delicious, and creative. That same attention to detail extends to the ambiance, from the lighting and music to the customer service, all of which help create the intimate atmosphere Revival is known for.
If you are looking for your next go-to spot, check out Revival Lounge and say hi to Taylot and her husband, Rob, behind the bar.
