Artist Amigos is a local mom-and-pop design studio and production print house, owned by David and Maggie Booth. Their business caters to clients across the U.S., providing the kind of personalized support and attention to detail that larger online print shops tend to lack.
After struggling to find a production company for their own print needs as artists, facing issues like production cuts and rising prices during COVID, they decided to launch Artist Amigos in 2021.
With support from artist friends interested in their venture, and David Booth bringing nearly nine years of graphic design experience, they created the business to support creatives experiencing similar frustrations with larger, more well-known production companies.
“That's why we’re Artist Amigos, we’re friends of the artist. Said Maggie Booth, “We want you to feel like an artist and have your vibe respected and understood, not cookie-cutter any artist or any business.”
Artist Amigos works with a range of artists and small businesses to produce artwork, stickers, promotional materials, banners, and signage. Both David and Maggie Booth have found that every client has distinct needs that cannot be met with a one-size-fits-all approach.
Apart from aiding businesses with the design aspect of their creative vision, they ensure that each of their clients' needs are met, no matter how big or small, by offering details such as no minimum on prints, more control over designs, and fair price points. These practices ensure customer satisfaction and production quality.
“We try to keep [Artist Amigos] custom and unique where we still feel like we’re doing something different because that was the whole point,” said Maggie Booth. “That’s why we’re in this business, to make it so people feel like they have that creative control.”
Currently, Artist Amigos is solely run by David and Maggie Booth. Together, they work with more than 700 clients, including artists affiliated with DC and Marvel Comics, such as Bob Hall. Despite the many hats they both wear, they have still found time to slow down and connect with clients on a personal level, often building friendships along the way.
They hope to expand their friendships in Downtown Mount Vernon, with hopes to begin hosting events where local artists can come together to draw, collaborate, and have a space to talk with like-minded creatives.
“It is important to us to have that relationship, because we want everyone to love what they do, to love working with us, and to love selling their stuff to their clients, because it is them; art is personal. That is our goal,” said Maggie Booth
