Small Business Spotlight: Mister Party
It feels like a party every day in this Mexican-American style restaurant

A new restaurant has opened in Downtown Mount Vernon: Mister Party, located in Pine Square, offers a tasty combination of Mexican and American cuisine. Owners and brothers-in-law Pablo Gonzalez and Oscar Hernandez want to make people happy through their food.
Running their own restaurant felt like the next logical step for Gonzalez and Hernandez after operating a successful catering business since 2018, where they prepared food for events such as birthdays, baptisms, graduations, and other celebrations. They have catered events across northern Washington, including Everett, Marysville, Auburn, and up to Blaine.
“For us, it’s really special, it's a little small, but I believe it is perfect to start a business, we’ve been learning a lot,” said Gonzalez.
Their menu consists of classic Mexican dishes such as tacos and nachos, but they also serve hamburgers and hot dogs with a creative twist. Gonzalez and Hernandez have created items like the “Pregnant Dog,” topped with sausage, bacon, Anaheim pepper, vegetables, mozzarella cheese, and their special house-made “Mister Sauce.”
Gonzalez and Hernandez settled on a Mexican and American fusion of flavors for their dishes to cater to everyone's taste and provide more options for the Mount Vernon community.
Most of their food, including their burger patties, fries, and tortillas, are homemade. Gonzalez and Hernandez avoid using any frozen ingredients, sharing that this value comes from growing up with completely homemade dishes. They aim to provide that same made-from-scratch flavor and service to their customers. “We’ve always loved the kitchen and cooking– the people and everything,” said Gonzalez.
The brothers are excited to see how their business grows over the next couple of months. Already, they have over 1,000 followers on their Facebook page and have received positive reactions to menu items like their shrimp tacos. One review with five stars reads, “FANTASTIC TACOS! Fresh tortillas! A salsa bar! Super friendly service! This place is going to be a problem.”
Gonzalez and Hernandez have dreams to move into a bigger space with more seating and room for their customers. They also hope to solidify their menu. As of April, they have been passing out small written surveys in both English and Spanish to customers with questions like, “What dish did you try today?” “What did you like most about the dish?” and a space for their customers to leave suggestions.
“We are barely starting, we know we are not perfect, so we are trying to take down questions to get better,” said Gonzalez.
As the weather gets warmer, make sure to head down to Mister Party and stop in to say hi to Gonzalez and Hernandez cooking behind the counter. Enjoy a fresh agua fresca and a tasty taco, hot dog, or burger, whatever suits your preference.
