Trading Convenience for Connection: A Different Approach to Chiropractic Care
Dr. Kaylee English brings personalized chiropractic care to Downtown Mount Vernon
By: Julieta Larios
Dr. Kaylee English takes a different approach to chiropractic care than many other chiropractors. At Magic Skagit Chiropractic, English focuses on rehabilitation and tissue work alongside adjustments.
English graduated from University of Western State Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, in 2016. Much of her education focused on evidence-based chiropractic care rather than philosophy-based practices. Because of this, English incorporates tissue bodywork in her sessions; she finds that this approach helps ensure the longevity of her adjustments.
“I try to trade convenience for connections,” said English. She does this by offering longer sessions, ranging from 20 to 40 minutes, while limiting her schedule to around 10 patients per day.
As a mom of young children, English knows firsthand the challenges of juggling kids, various schedules, and personal care. That is why she prioritizes working during typical school hours, so that moms do not have to worry about sacrificing their physical health for clients who do need to bring their children along; her office is kid-friendly.
This is not English’s first time owning a business. She opened her first practice in August 2019, which she operated before the Covid-19 pandemic. She eventually decided to open her current office in Downtown Mount Vernon this past September because of the city's inclusive, community-oriented atmosphere and its proximity to her home. These were characteristics she felt were missing when she began her first practice.
“That's one of the reasons I named my practice Magic Skagit Chiropractic; it’s because I truly love living here,” said English.
Another aspect English loves about Downtown Mount Vernon is the number of other health practices located near her office. This allows English to network with local health professionals and refer her clients to other providers when needed.
“Even not having a big practice with multiple people, I know who to refer out to, who's all within walking distance of me,” said English.
English ultimately wants people to feel comfortable walking through the door. She is currently only charging a portion of the treatment cost for new patient visits. While she does not take insurance, she hopes her affordable prices for quality care will encourage prospective patients to give her practice a try.
